Printer Deployment using Desktop Authority Express
Desktop Authority Express makes it easy to deploy Network and IP Printers. Printer mappings redirect local printer ports (LPTx) and printer resources to a shared network printer.
With Desktop Authority Express, printers can be deployed to client computers based on a number of different types of logic. A school that has a lab set up will want printers to be configured for each user that logs onto a computer in the lab. The configured printer should be the nearest printer to the computer. Assuming there is a computer naming convention that reflects where the computer is located, Desktop Authority Express can use its patented Validation Logic technology to install a printer for all computers that are named with the lab designation (ie. validation logic based on "Computer Name begins with 'Lab01'"). Of course, printers can also be installed based on Group, Organizational Unit (OU), or any of the over 25 Validation Logic types.
More than one printer per computer or user can be installed. Desktop Authority Express has the ability to set a specified printer as the default printer for the user.
