Desktop Authority
Validation Logic Primer

The purpose of Validation Logic is to establish who of an organization’s tens, hundreds or thousands of users should get a particular configuration setting. Each Desktop Authority element, no matter if it is as simple as a drive mapping or as complex as distributing patches, uses the same Validation Logic options, but has its own unique Validation Logic configuration.

Validation Logic starts by differentiating each class of machine (such as desktop or portable), then operating system (from 95 through Vista), the connection type, and finally Timing.  Desktop Authority can configure desktops at logon, because it is the most opportune time to configure the user – before they begin working. Some elements, such as service packs, would be more appropriate at logoff, and the refresh of other elements would be appropriate to enforce security settings or maintain a consistent user environment.
