ScriptLogic Online Licensing Verification (SOLV) Frequently Asked Questions
Which products use ScriptLogic Online License Verification (SOLV)?
- Desktop Authority MSI Studio 4.0
- More ScriptLogic products will use SOLV in the coming months
How does SOLV work?
- A product that uses SOLV takes the unique license code assigned to each customer, and communicates with ScriptLogic to establish which features and options you are licensed to use.
Unless you consent otherwise, only your license code and a non-reversible hash (not identifiable) of information needed to identify licensed computers, users or other objects are communicated to ScriptLogic.
Without your consent, NO identifiable details of computer names, usage, network details, or any other identifiable information related to your computer network is communicated to ScriptLogic.
If you enable the option inside the product to let ScriptLogic store readable information about product registrations then we will also securely store a non-hashed record for every license. If you choose this option then it will be easier for us to help you with licensing queries because we will be able to tell you how your licenses have been registered.
What information does SOLV store if I consent to let you store readable information about license registrations?
- Desktop Authority MSI Studio stores the names of all users who run MSI Studio (DOMAIN\username)
What happens if I don’t consent to ScriptLogic storing readable information about my licenses?
- If you do not agree to let us store readable information, ScriptLogic will not be able to tell you how your licenses are registered. For example, if your 3 MSI Studio licenses have been registered to 3 users we will not be able to tell you who they are — you will need to keep your own records.
Is SOLV secure?
- Yes, all communication uses SSL encryption
Unless you consent to let us store readable information, no data is stored in a form that lets ScriptLogic or anyone else view any properties of your computer network
How is my privacy affected by SOLV?
- SOLV was designed to protect your privacy!
You are not required to enter any personal information.
Without your consent, the information communicated cannot be used to determine any specific information about your computer network.
Furthermore, the information is encrypted as it communicates with ScriptLogic using SSL technology, so it cannot be viewed by anyone else.
Is SOLV Spyware?
- No.
SOLV cannot be used to gather information about your computers, users, network, their activity, or to display any kind of advertising or promotion.
Why can’t you just give me a license file?
- SOLV reduces the administrative burden of ensuring you remain in compliance with your license agreement.
Unlike license files, a SOLV license cannot accidentally be used too many times.
What if I want to move my license?
